Second phase peer teaching
REPORT ON PEER TUTORING
(19/02/2021 - 6/03/2021)
As a part of B. Ed curriculum, we the students of Karmela Rani Training College, Kollam were advised to take peer tutoring classes with the lessons from 8th standard textbook Chapters 13 and 14. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the online peer tutoring class was conducted through the Google Meet platform and also in a week 2 days were allotted to take online classes directly in the institution inorder to provide us with real classroom experience.
Second phase of peer tutoring session started on 19/02/2021 and extended till 6/03/ 2021.We were a group of 8 members under our tutor Dr. Mary Sindhu. J who guided us and gave proper instructions for peer tutoring session. Each member in the peer group had to take 15 lessons from the chapter alloted to us. Chapter 13 is Diversity for Sustenance and Chapter 14 is For the Continuity of Generation . We all took classes on same portion but the introductory session of each members varied and also the presentation session was entirely different. This made classes different from one another. Power point slides and videos were used for content transaction. The contents In-situ conservation, Endangered species, Protection of Nature, Parts of flower and Preservation of Biodiversity was taken at our college on the alloted days.Even though they were peer, they attended the class like the students of 8th class. They too responded like standard 8th students. After having taken my class, I reflected upon my classes which made me identify my strengths and weakness. Also my peers and my tutor gave suggestions. This made me improve my way of teaching during 15 days of peer tutoring.
